With my good buddies from VAST Bhutan, we went on a 2 week trip to eastern Bhutan, in August of 2008. We drove around in a burrowed minivan, camping whenever and wherever. Our eyes were set on visiting Merak and Sakten. From Chaling, we trekked to Merak, and then to Sakten. These HDR pics are from Sakten.
A word of caution – Sakten is amazingly beautiful in August, but beware of the leeches. I remember the leeches, as much as the beauty of the landscape.
Morning dawns over Sakten. This is a true HDR, composed of 3 bracketed shots, using a tripod and a trigger @ 100 ISO. A bit grainy, but not bad at all, considering I was using a Canon 400D at that time.
Miss those days when I would set up my tripod and take ages to shoot. Everything is in a hurry these days.
This is a pseudo HDR. Means unlike the traditional HDR using bracketed shot, it is tonemapped using 3 copies virtually bracketed. Lightroom makes it very easy to do that. The final result was looking a bit bland, so I teastained it in photoshop.
The ladies hanging out in downtown Sakten.
The village temple in Sakten. Another pseudo HDR, teastained. A crazy Norwegian photog introduced me to teastaining.
I love this photo, I dont know why.
